Who can take distance education courses?

Any person who:

1)
has reached the age of 16 before July 1 of the current school year, and

2)
is a Québec resident,

may take credited courses at the secondary level that are administered by a Québec school board offering distance learning courses.

Québec residents living temporarily outside of Québec or abroad
You can register for these courses in the same way as if you were living in Québec. You must, however, make the necessary arrangements to be entitled to the official recognition given to Québec students who take an examination in an educational institution at the end of their distance education course. For more information, you should contact a centre that offers distance education in Québec.

Canadian citizens or landed immigrants in other provinces
It may be possible for you to register in a course. Registration fees will, however, be higher and, unless you make special arrangements, you will not be entitled to the official recognition given to Québec students who take an examination in an educational institution at the end of their distance education course. For more information, you should contact a centre.

Professional or personal development courses
Certain professional or personal development courses in French are self-financed and open to anyone wishing to take them, whatever their place of residence. An example of this is the French mother tongue proficiency course, Du français sans fautes.
