Mission and mandate |
MISSION AND MANDATE SOFAD (Société de formation à distance des commissions scolaires du Québec) is an organization that developed from the Ministère de l’Éducation mandate to provide distance education services between 1946 and 1995. Its creation, in 1996, was the result of the joint effort of the Ministère and the school boards. |

put its expertise at the service of the needs and priorities of its partners (the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport, the school boards and other organizations); |

| • | develop, produce or coproduce, and sell printed and online learning and evaluation materials designed for distance or classroom education, in all of the school boards’ sectors of activity; |
|||||||
| • | foster the use of new technologies in order to provide young and adult learners with the best possible educational opportunities; |
|||||||
| • | meet the continuing education needs of businesses and workers by providing customized services; |
|||||||
| • | carry out the studies and research required to attain SOFAD objectives and to generally ensure the expansion of distance education and online training; |

| • | generate awareness of distance education and online training among all concerned individuals and organizations; |
|||||||
| • | encourage all appropriate partnerships with the relevant organizations in the field of education, in the world of work and in all other sectors of activity. |
